The Robert Marshall Council is a group of Wilderness Society supporters who have made a future commitment to wilderness protection by establishing a life income gift or by including The Wilderness Society in their will or trust. The Robert Marshall Council is our way of recognizing the many dedicated and passionate individuals who have made this significant decision through a legacy gift. We thank our Council members for this and for their confidence in The Wilderness Society of our ongoing commitment of protecting our beloved public lands.

As a member of the Robert Marshall Council, members receive benefits and special invitations, including:

  • a lifetime subscription to the TWS newsletter
  • a TWS wall calendar;
  • a TWS annual report; and
  • invitations to special events and seminars.
If you have already included The Wilderness Society in your estate plan, please let us know. We want to thank you for your generosity and welcome you into the Council.

Robert Marshall, a visionary conservation hero and the principle founder of The Wilderness Society, was the first to leave a bequest to TWS in his will; one quarter of his total estate. Although he died at the young age of 39, only four years after founding TWS, he understood the importance of leaving a bequest to ensure the future of The Wilderness Society and wilderness preservation for generations to come.
